MarinerMandy Something I've Never Seen Before Apr 1, 2008 11:49 AM One of the great things about baseball is that in any given game you have the chance to see something you've never seen before. I experienced that moment yesterday afternoon while I was huddled up against the cold weather at Safeco Field. In the fifth inning, it started snowing. Mind you, when we got to the game it was sunny and 50 degrees. It's Seattle so you expect to see some rain, but the snow season usually ends around January. I've seen snow delays in Detroit, Cleveland, and Boston at the beginning of the season. These being your harsh winter type of city and all. I'll always remember this year as the Opening Day when it snowed.
MarinerMandy When Sports Rivalries Go Too Far Mar 28, 2008 11:19 AM From the Seattle Times: A fast-food cook and Seattle Seahawks fan has been accused of spitting on a hamburger ordered by a man wearing Pittsburgh Steelers attire...(The customer) reportedly traded remarks with an employee about Super Bowl XL in which the Seahawks lost to the Steelers. When the customer opened his food container, he says there was spittle on the burger. Things like this really make me proud to be a Seahawks fan. What better way to avenge the loss than with a spit burger?
MarinerMandy Greg Oden Takes the Court! Mar 28, 2008 10:05 AM Portland Trailblazers rookie Greg Oden participated in a basketball game Wednesday. Unfortunately, it wasn't the kind the Blazers were happy about. Oden, only recently cleared to participate in light drills with the team, decided to flex his shooting muscle in a couple of pickup games. Coach Nate McMillan gave him a talking to and extracted a promise it would never happen again. Despite all the worries about his knee, my first reaction to this story is to be excited. It has been a long season waiting for Oden to slowly rehab and next season seems so far away. I love this guy's personality. Come on, he named his dog Charles Barkely McLovin and is sporting a mohawk! He has fired this team up so much from the bench and I can't wait to see what he does for them on the floor.
MarinerMandy Is Jose Canseco Telling the Truth? Mar 28, 2008 8:48 AM In a follow up to his book, "Juiced," Jose Canseco's second steroids memoir is set to hit shelves on April 1st. In the book, he claims to have introduced Alex Rodriquez to steroids via a peddler named "Max." In an interview with "Dateline" Canseco refused to offer up any evidence of ARods steroid use or to indentify "Max." Canseco said, "The timing's not right, let's see how Alex reacts. Let's see if they all call me a liar again. How's that for you? Let's see if all of a sudden they're going to call me a liar again." ARod has, of course, denied the allegations. Canseco is obviously playing a game here, but I wonder do you think he is telling the truth?
MarinerMandy Allen Iverson Returns to Philly Mar 19, 2008 12:17 PM Allen Iverson plays his first game in Philadelphia since the 76ers booted him out over a year ago. It's always interesting to see how fans respond when former big name players come back. Especially, players as out there as Iverson. How do you think the fans will respond?
